As a child i had insomnia and would spend my time escaping into fantasy while laying in my bed trying to sleep. I would imagine stories, and create worlds and characters to entertain myself. Eventually i became frustrated with my imagination, it was too fuzzy at the time to create and perceive the details i wanted, so i started drawing in order to both capture and understand what i was creating. This act of turning the immaterial, mental phenomena, into the material is a fundamental aspect of my art, and the process itself still intrigues me today. What i find most intriguing are the forces at work that we cant immediately or easily see physically, such as mental phenomena, atoms, molecules, supernovas, the fact that billions of tiny lifeforms call our body home or that if it wasn't for flowers and the death of stars human beings wouldn't exist. Although it might not be clearly apparent fields of studies such as Physics, Psychology, Biology, Philosophy, Cosmology and Technology inspire and support my artistic process. The connection between these fields, they way miniscule elements evolved into larger forms such as planets and stars, which then shaped biological life, which then in turn shaped our philosophies and technological achievements, amazes me and gives me a glimpse of a much larger picture at work that encapsulates every fragment of reality we see and perceive. Every artwork i create is a fragment of this desire, to explore and understand the unseen forces at work.
